The industrial unit of Bracell Papéis São Paulo, which received an investment of R$ 5 billion, stands out as one of the most modern and sustainable in the world, reinforcing Brazil’s position in the global tissue paper market

The Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), took part in the official inauguration ceremony of Bracell Papéis São Paulo’s tissue factory in Lençóis Paulista. During the event, he highlighted the importance of the investment for the region’s economic development and the relevance of the pulp and paper industry to the state. The ceremony, which officially marked the start of operations at one of the world’s most advanced tissue factories, brought together state and municipal government officials, as well as company employees.

The new plant is established as one of the most modern and sustainable in the world, being the only one in Brazil to operate entirely free of fossil fuels and to be 100% automated. The unit produces a range of tissue paper products, such as toilet paper and paper towels. With four double-width machines already in operation and a total production capacity of 240,000 tons per year, Bracell currently holds an 8.8% share of the Brazilian tissue market and exports to more than 20 countries worldwide. The company has also announced an expansion plan with the acquisition of two additional double-width machines, which will add another 120,000 tons of annual capacity by the end of 2026.

On the occasion, Governor Tarcísio de Freitas emphasized the importance of projects of this scale for São Paulo’s economy. “Bracell is a company that has been making highly significant investments in the state of São Paulo—creating jobs, expanding opportunities, and developing a social program worthy of recognition. The impact is direct on GDP, tax revenue, production, and energy generation. Moreover, it stands as a reference in sustainability. It is a company that is fulfilling—and even surpassing—its promise to transform not only the state of São Paulo but especially the region of Lençóis Paulista, with actions driven by quality, innovation, and socio-environmental responsibility,” he said.

In addition to its economic relevance, the Lençóis Paulista factory stands out for its industrial integration with Bracell’s pulp unit. This model allows for efficient optimization of raw materials, energy, and water use — reducing environmental impact and ensuring greater operational competitiveness. Since the start of operations, the unit has generated over 650 direct and another 650 indirect jobs, reinforcing its role as a driver of local development.

“The expansion of our production capacity reflects our commitment to serving both domestic and international markets with efficiency, innovation, and environmental responsibility,” said Aron. The executive also emphasized that the company will continue investing in technology and sustainability to keep pace with the growth of the tissue sector. “Our goal is to expand strategically, always prioritizing quality, competitiveness, and a production model aligned with the best global practices,” he concluded.
